Walkers Claim They Saw Cougar In Gloucestershire Field

It's not the first time someone has reported seeing a big cat in the area...

Two walkers claim that they spotted a cougar roaming wild in the fields of Great Britain.

57-year-old Anne Terranova was out walking with her mate in the countryside near Stroud, Gloucester, when they decided to take a slightly different route to normal.

Upon deviating from their usual path, they say they were confronted by a huge cat that they claim was a cougar.

Anne said: "We were out walking as we often do. We like wildlife and I am quite a wildlife enthusiast.

"We cut through the buildings and on to a little footpath which joins up through Watledge and there is a little wood and nice walk.

"We paused to have a rest and my friend looked over at the field and said, 'whatever is that'?

"I had to strain my eyes at first, but then I saw that it was in fact a very large cat."

It was large indeed, if their story is to be believed. Anne claims that the thing was just 'padding' around the field and was at least two or three feet tall. That's definitely a big cat.

She continued: "We stood for a good five minutes and it was by the fence that was about waist height.

"It was certainly feline and there is absolutely no way that the animal had the profile of a dog. The size and shape of it was like a mountain lion.

"From the distance it looked a dark chestnut brown.

"When my friend pointed out to the big cat to me we also saw a rabbit in the field and the big cat was at least 20 times bigger than that.

"It was not a fox because you could tell by the tail. There were so many things going through my mind.

"We were both quite excited by what we saw, and there was no element of fear or alarm.

"The cat was quite a distance from us and we carried on with our walk after it went back into the woods.

"I posted about the sighting on the Nailsworth Chat and Information on Facebook and there was also another post from another lady saying that she had seen the same as I had."

Well, if you needed any more reason not to get out of bed today - apart from having an awful hangover after Christmas Day - there you have it.

Especially if you live near the woods in Gloucester.
