It's been well-documented that Ant McPartlin's been having a rough time for the past year. Now the much-loved Geordie TV presenter has reportedly been spotted crying at the side of the Britain's Got Talent stage, according to industry insiders.

Reports have emerged that 42-year-old Ant had to be comforted by his on-screen partner Dec Donnelly at the London auditions of the TV talent show last week. This was after a magician trying out for the show spoke about his wife and his daughter, who had cancer.

Ant's behaviour is said to have worried insiders, who are wondering whether he's showing signs of strain after Ant announced last month that he had filed for divorce from his wife Lisa Armstrong.

"Ant got very emotional, which was unusual. This story seems to really strike a chord with Ant," a show source said, reported the Daily Mirror.

"We wondered if the pressure has finally got to him? Was he letting out lots of tears about more than just this story?"

Ant has stayed committed to his work in recent months, returning to TV for I'm A Celebrity: Get Me Out Of Here! last November after a four-month absence.

Last month Ant and Dec scooped three more National TV Awards for their telly work, and at the ceremony Ant openly admitted that he's had a tricky year.

Over the past twelve months Ant has endured the breakdown of his marriage to Lisa - to whom he had been married for 11 years - as well as a high-profile visit to rehab for after becoming addicted to prescription drugs and alcohol.

"It's been a very emotional night tonight. It's been quite a year, quite a tough twelve months, so winning this tonight really, really means a lot," Ant said as he and Dec claimed the gong for Most Popular TV Presenter.

Thanking his family and friends, he added: "Thank you to all of you for your support. It really means the world to me and has helped me get through."

The reports of Ant's backstage breakdown come after TV make-up artist Lisa, 41, "liked" negative tweets about her estranged husband, including one saying she 'made' him who he is.

"Your unconditional love & support made A who he is," read one of the tweets Lisa liked, posted by a fan. "Easy to think you don't want UNTIL you don't have... Never be another you."
