Jeff Goldblum is an A-Lister with a difference.

Not content with starring in films and making millions as an actor, he's a man who likes to diversify his interests: alongside his upcoming nature and travel series, he's apparently now a musician with a new album coming out.

If you're surprised to hear this, then you're not the only one - as this footage of him debuting some of his material at St Pancras station in front of a legion of stunned commuters shows.

Goldblum is a lifelong pianist and jazz fanatic who received his first record deal at the ripe old age of 65 and will record the tracks this autumn.

He turned up to play at St Pancras' famous Elton John piano as part of a publicity campaign to promote his album, which will be called The Capital Studios Sessions.

"I always like playing out and about. You never know who you're going meet," said Goldblum. "And music soothes the savage breast! Or is it beast?"

He recently made waves in London with a huge statue of himself that was installed by London's Tower Bridge.

"It was lovely, I liked that whole statue," he said of it. "I don't know what it looked like in the flesh, or in the concrete, I didn't see it. I saw pictures of it.

"I think they took it down, but isn't it making a tour, of some kind? Like the treasures of the tomb of King Tutankhamun? I hope so. I hope everybody gets the chance to see it at one point or another."

The album is set to feature the likes of comedian Sarah Silverman and his regular backing band from his performances on the LA nightclub scene.

"As far as I can tell, everyone loves Jeff Goldblum," said Tom Lewis, Decca Records director of A&R Tom Lewis.

"He's a fantastic jazz pianist, a great band leader and just about the loveliest man in the world.

"His love of jazz is infectious and whenever he plays he makes you feel very happy. If we can take Jeff's music into people's homes then we will be helping, in our own small way, to make the world a happier place."

Goldblum debuted his skills in the UK while appearing as a guest on The Graham Norton show, where he accompanied singer Gregory Porter on the piano.
