Ever since Hurricane Maria swept through Puerto Rico, a number of celebrities have come forward to help or donate money to the people of the island and Jennifer Aniston is the latest to do so.

The Friends star is reported to have made a generous $500,000 (£376,000) donation to the American Red Cross' disaster relief services, as well as the same amount to the Ricky Martin Foundation, totaling $1 million (£752,000) in total, according to E! News.

The Ricky Martin Foundation aims to help the survivors of the hurricane, as well as restoring the island back to normality, whereas American Red Cross has launched a multi-island relief effort with government officials and disaster partners to help those impacted.

"She is concerned that so much is still needed to be done for the victims of these recent hurricanes, especially Puerto Rico where there is still no power to most of the island," a source told E! News. "She hopes this inspires others to give what they can."

Singer Martin tweeted about Aniston's efforts, saying: "Jennifer Aniston U R amazing Thanx 4 donating $500k for our #PuertoRico relief fund We will never forget. U R saving lives Jenn #Allin4PR."

According to NBC News, Maria is the most powerful storm to hit Puerto Rico in almost a century and it could take half a year to restore power.

It's not just wealthy celebs who are helping, though, as Royal Caribbean, a cruise company, sent its ships to support the victims of the natural disaster.

The company cancelled an upcoming trip in order to send one of its fleet to Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands, reports the Telegraph.

Adventure of the Seas, which was scheduled to depart from San Juan, Puerto Rico, and sail to several other islands, will now remain in dock and also visit St Thomas and St Croix (of the US Virgin Islands) to help with the hurricane relief effort.

The huge cruise liner, which stands a 1,020ft long, weighs 137,276 tons, and can carry 3,114 passengers, will donate supplies as well as help to pick up evacuees, transferring them to Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Royal Caribbean has also dispatched their Majesty of the Sea and Empress of the Seas ships to help with the relief efforts. So far, around 1,700 people have been evacuated.

CEO Michael Bayley told the Miami Herald: "We have been such a part of the Caribbean and South Florida communities for so many decades. We are worried and anxious.

"At the end of the day, we want to try to help as much as we can."
