Kim Kardashian's lawyer has confirmed that she has been asked to assist the campaign to free Cyntoia Brown - a former child sex slave who killed her abuser when she was just 16 years old.
The reality TV star has enlisted the help of Shawn Holley, a high-profile Hollywood lawyer who was on the team that defended OJ Simpson when he was famously tried and acquitted of murder in 1995. She has also previously worked for the likes of Tupac, Snoop Dogg, Lindsey Lohan and Nicole Ritchie.
Cyntoia Brown was given a life sentence back in 2004 for shooting and killing 43-year-old Nashville estate agent Johnny Allen. Cyntoia claims to have killed Allen out of fear that he planned to kill her.

Brown, now 29, has spent over a decade in prison for the crime, during which time she has completed her associate's degree and is reportedly finishing her bachelors. She also works as an unpaid consultant for the juvenile justice system.
Karadashian is just one of several celebrities who have now expressed their support for Brown, with Rihanna, Cara Delevingne, LeBron James and Snoop Dogg also sharing posts calling for her release.
A petition created on the website MoveOn seeking clemency for Brown by Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam has received over 360,000 signatures.
In a Twitter post the Kardashian wrote: "The system has failed. It's heart breaking to see a young girl sex trafficked, then when she has the courage to fight back, is jailed for life!
"We have to do better & do what's right. I've called my attorneys yesterday to see what can be done to fix this."

Holley is currently working on another case at the request of Kardashian, that of Alice Johnson, a Tennessee woman who has served 21 years in jail for her first non-violent drug conviction.
Now a 62-year-old grandmother, Johnson received a life sentence for transferring messages between members of a cocaine ring in the 1990s.
Speaking about Kim's involvement with these cases, Holley said, according to the New York Daily News: "Kim asked me several weeks ago how she could help Alice Johnson in her fight for justice. We then began corresponding with Alice and her team of lawyers.
"Since then, Kim has championed the cause of Cyntoia Brown and asked me to help her get involved in that effort as well."
