Earlier this week, country singer Carrie Underwood told fans that she 'might look a bit different' after having to have stitches in her face following a fall.

However, a recent photo of her has surfaced online and she looks pretty much the same as ever.

The 34-year-old, who rose to fame on American Idol, revealed on Monday that when she had fallen outside her home in November last year she had injured more than just her wrist, as previously reported.

In a post to her fan club, she wrote: "There is also another part of the story that I haven't been ready to talk about since I have still been living it and there has been much uncertainty as to how things will end up. It's crazy how a freak random accident can change your life...

"In addition to breaking my wrist, I somehow managed to injure my face as well. I'll spare you the gruesome details, but when I came out of surgery the night of my fall, the doctor told Mike [Fisher, Carrie's husband] that he had put between 40 and 50 stitches in."

Carrie added: "I am determined to make 2018 amazing and I want to share things with you along the way. And when I am ready to get in front of a camera, I want you all to understand why I might look a bit different."

But in the recent photo shared by Adrienne Gang, which was taken last month, any differences to her face were minimal.

In fact, Gang even told US Weekly: "I had no idea she got hurt prior to meeting her.

"She had a wrist brace on, but I didn't think much of it until I saw the headlines after I posted our picture together. I didn't notice anything amiss on her face. Simply, she looked lovely. She was extremely friendly and gracious."

Underwood shared a photo of her face, partially hidden by a scarf, on her Instagram page last week, which has since been flooded with well wishes from fans.
