Hunter Who Received Massive Backlash After Killing Goats In Scotland Responds

The US hunter who received death threats after posting photos of her posing with goats she'd killed while on a trip to Scotland has responded to critics telling them to 'get educated'.

Sharing a photo of herself set to leave the Scottish island of Islay, where she was on a hunting trip with pal Jason, she wrote: "My ride has arrived - I'm headed out on a bush plane for my next hunting adventure and will be out of service for two weeks.

"Nothing better than disconnecting from this social media driven world and connecting back with nature.

"Hopefully that will give enough time for all the ignorant people out there sending me death threats to get educated on hunting and conservation. FYI , I was in Scotland over a month ago..."

Amongst those who slammed Switlyk were comedian Ricky Gervais who didn't mince his words. Gervais shared one of her tweets to Facebook and wrote alongside it: "A couple of c***s, dressed up like c***s, shooting a beautiful animal, then posing with the murdered carcass like right c***s and posting it on social media to show the world what c***s they are.

While tennis-ace Andy Murray's mum Judy also responded, albeit in a much more restrained way than Gervais, posting: "'A unique hunt?' Disgraceful. It's a goat. And it's in Scotland. On a beautiful island. Stop this pls @scotgov".

The host of Larysa Unleashed took to Twitter earlier this week to 'congratulate' her friend Jason on his 'gold medal', adding that it was a 'unique hunt'.

In other posts she said it was a 'fun hunt' and described tracking and shooting one goat, posting: "We hunted hard for a big one for 2 days and finally got on this group. Made a perfect 200-yard shot and dropped him."

But on social media, not everyone was up for congratulating her on her kills, with one writing: "You need to go back to where you belong and leave Scottish wildlife in the peace to which they are entitled. The killing of defenceless sentient beings doing no harm to you are the actions of someone with psychopathic tendencies. Seek help."

Another angry social media added: "Well done - you shot a sheep. Easier than shooting a fish in a barrel since sheep tend to stand still eating grass. You, Mighty Hunter, with thousands of dollars' worth of gear shot something that hardly moves/you won't eat /but killing it made you feel good. A***hole."

Sarah Moyes, from animal rights' charity OneKind told SkyNews: "It's utterly shocking to see these images of Larysa Switlyk and other hunters posing for photos with the wild animals they killed on a recent trip to Scotland.

"Yet again, instead of celebrating Scotland's magnificent wildlife, we are seeing these beautiful animals exploited in the name of sport.

"This is not the kind of tourism we should be encouraging in Scotland, let alone allowing to happen in the 21st century."
