Gun-Loving American Gets Merked On Twitter After Posting Fake Stat

He won't make that mistake again

In the wake of Monday's mass shooting in Las Vegas, a number of voices - including that of Piers Morgan - have called for gun laws in the US to be tightened, in order to prevent such an atrocity from ever being able to happen again.

With gun regulation so strict in UK - and the number of incidents of gun violence consequently so low - quite a few Brits took to social media to point out the benefits of tighter controls on firearms.

I probably don't need to tell you that not all sections of America's gun-toting community respond well to criticism of their 'right to bear arms'. One such American was Twitter user @man_in_radiator.

Although he has since deleted his Tweet, he wrote: "England has a terrorist attack every hour and they have the balls to ask us why we want our guns?"

And as you can imagine he received quite the response to his 'statistic':

And although he deleted his initial tweet after realising how dumb it was, he did offer another response later in the day:

At the end of the day the moral of the story is, never post a stat publicly to Twitter, unless you have the facts to back it up.

According to the Gun Violence Archive, there have been 1,731 deaths from gun violence this year, and the incident in Vegas was the most deadly mass shooting in modern American history.
