These heart-breaking images show farmers bidding goodbye to 6,000 of their pigs as flood waters rose in their pens.

Li Zuming and Li Jie were pictured crying as they believed that they physically couldn't save all the animals from drowning. According to the BBC, these pictures spread through social media as the public called for the animals to be saved.

It looks as though the power of social media has once again proved that it can save someone's bacon (LITERALLY, AMIRITE?!) as local media is reporting that the pigs were rescued.

Holy fuck, imagine moving 6,000 pigs. That's some real dedication.

The pig pens have been flooded for a few days after China's Shucheng county was hit with unprecedented heavy rain.

At the time of these pictures, the farmers were under the impression that environmental protection and epidemic prevention measures were stopping them from being able to move the pigs to safety. This is genuine sorrow as they hug the pigs to leave them to die.

Hang on a minute, though, are they crying for the pigs or are they crying because they're being drowned and not slaughtered for profit? And no, I'm not vegan. Or vegetarian for that matter. Meat is delicious.

The Independent reported that 93 people have died as a result of the flooding after rain fell from Thursday to Monday. Nineteen others are missing.

We hope that they are found safe and well soon.
