When someone says 'desert island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean', the chances are you would think of sun-kissed beaches, palm trees, and coconuts, and most importantly with no one else around. Paradise.

Now think of that same scenario, but where you have no mobile phone, no computer, you're surrounded by a bunch of strangers you can't stand, and there is the very real possibility that at some point you are going to have to drink your own piss.

Oh, and your every move is being filmed for the entertainment of millions of people sat on their comfy sofas, in their warm home, probably enjoying some Tudor-esque banquet and laughing at you.

Well, probably not, but you get the idea.

For those of you who still think this sounds like a fantastic idea however, this is the moment you've been waiting for as Chief Scout, Bear Grylls, is looking for contestants to sign up for the sixth series of The Island.

The hit reality TV show pits a group of 'ordinary' men and women against each other to see basically, who is the hardest.

And when you're expected to be able to build a raft, make a spear, and go and hunt and catch your own dinner just to survive, it's not for the faint-hearted.

According to the application form, the aim of the show is for people to face regain their 'hunter-gatherer instinct' - and apparently you only have to undergo 'crippling dehydration' and the occasional 'tropical storm' for that to happen.

Sign. Me. Up.

The application said: "In 21st century Britain, we have never been further removed from our hunter-gatherer origins and many of the practical skills that were once passed from generation to generation have been lost.

"On the most recent series of The Island With Bear Grylls, a cross section of ordinary British men and women were challenged to see if they could survive for five weeks, abandoned totally alone on an uninhabited Pacific island.

"They had to battle the fierce tropical storm season, find, catch and kill their own food and stave off the dangers of crippling dehydration.

"When pushed to the edge of existence, would you have what it takes to survive on The Island? Then apply now! No experience of adventure or survival is necessary!"

Not everyone is a fan of the posh adventurer however, earlier this year national treasure Sir David Attenborough told the Sun that Bear would 'have to answer for himself' after killing animals for the sake of entertainment.

But those brave enough to put their bodies and minds to the ultimate test will need to be able to take six weeks off work between January 2019 and March 2019.

The closing date for online applications is Friday 12 October 2018, for more information click here.
