Cinema Replaces Seats With Double Beds

Have you ever been in the cinema, sat on those uncomfortable seats, and just thought to yourself, 'I wish I was in bed watching this?' Well, if so, it seems like you're not alone - because a cinema in Switzerland has decided to do away with chairs and fit 11 double beds instead.

The 'VIP Bedroom' screen opened last week in Cinema Pathé in Spreitenbach, with tickets costing 49 francs (£37) including food and drink, not bad, eh?

For your cash, VIP ticket holders won't be expected to queue up for their own food and drink, either.

Bizarrely, the cinema is also flogging slippers, which you can pick up to enhance your experience.

According to local news outlet 20 Minuten, the unique cinema will feature 11 beds, which come with grey and beige sheets and two pillows. The headboards are electronic, fancy, and there's even bedside tables to hold wine glasses, apparently.

And in case your filthy mind has immediately raced off with itself, the cinema's bosses are keen to stress that all sheets are changed after every screening.

Venanzio Di Bacco, the cinema's CEO said: "The hygiene aspect is very important to us."

Adding that he's not worried that people will start misbehaving - he has more faith in folk than I do - saying he: "The offer is unique in Switzerland. But we tested the concept abroad and had no problems so far."

Good luck, mate, that's all I'm saying.

Alongside the adult VIP cinema room there's also a kids' one which comes with massive bean bags, a ball pit and a slide that can be used instead of the stairs. How good does that sound?

If the prospects of beds isn't enough to tempt the Swiss cinema-goers in, Di Bacco has also announced that they're launching new food offerings including waffles and crepes - who fancies coming to Switzerland with me?

Di Bacco: "We want to offer both existing and new customers something innovative."

Well, I think it's fair to say he's managed that.
