First there was the Murder House. Then came the Asylum and the Coven, followed by the Freak Show. After that, the Hotel, the Roanoke Nightmare and, most recently, the Cult. But now things are getting serious - with the Apocalypse.

If none of that means anything to you, then you clearly haven't been paying attention to one of the most intriguing and creepy shows on television, which explore and reinvent classic horror movie tropes with a revolving cast.

Which you probably should, because as well as being incredibly well done, they're full of gore, guys and genuinely scary moments. Unless you don't like horror stuff, in which case you should probably look away now.

Anyway, the title of the eighth season of the show has been revealed as Apocalypse and fans think this could mean the return of Michael Langdon.

The poster, let's face it, is creepy as fuck. Not much has been officially announced about the season and what it entails yet - but we do know that it's going to be a crossover between season one (Murder House) and season three (Coven), which is both intriguing and exciting.

The cast will include series regulars Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Kathy Bates, as well as Adina Porter, Cheyenne Jackson, Billy Eichner, Leslie Grossman, Billie Lourd and Joan Collins, who will play the grandmother of Peters' character.

As we previously reported, the show's co-creator, Ryan Murphy, announced the crossover earlier this year, with a tweet that read: "The Coven/Murder House AHS crossover season won't be happening next year...because it's happening THIS YEAR. AHS #8 WITCHES RULE THIS SEPTEMBER."

What a tease. Murphy, who co-created the horror series with Brad Falchuk, also said that this forthcoming new season is going to be something completely different. Which, to be fair, is kind of the case with each new season, but this time it seems to be the case even more.

"It's a season unlike anything we've done because there's a big hook to it," Murphy told Entertainment Weekly. "There's a huge thing that happens in episode five."

Consider our interest peaked. Roll on September - and the end of the world.
