A sex worker has claimed that sleeping with married men can actually help save their marriages.

The anonymous sex worker - who goes by the name Lola - spoke about her working life, and the challenges she faces, in a new documentary to be broadcast on 5Star called Sex on the Streets.

Lola, a mum of two who lives in Sussex, says that she has several married clients, but far from ruining their marriages, her work can actually have completely the opposite effect.

She told the documentary: "I help families and keep them together.

"I do worry about the pain I cause but I find if a husband is using escorts then it's better than if he meets another woman and develops feelings.

"This is just sex and just physical."

In the film, Lola discusses her job and the implications of it. She admits that she has been attacked as a result of her job but says that she wouldn't want to do anything else.

She continued: "After I had my two children I was left in a lot of debt. A friend did this and she suggested I should try it and I've never looked back."

The sex worker also disclosed that she can see as many as three clients each day but has a strict set of rules that all of them must abide by. She also always practices safe sex and only takes clients in when her children are out of the house.

During the documentary it is also revealed that one in every 10 men has admitted that they have paid for sex.

However, there is another side to the story. In the documentary, that sees Journalist Storm Huntley investigate the sex industry, a wife tells of the despair that she suffered when she discovered that her husband was using sex workers.

The doc will air on Monday at 9pm.

The wife said: "First of all I found some photos on his phone of a sex worker, his face wasn't in them but I recognised his body.

"Then I found a video of him having sex with a sex worker. I talked to him about it and initially he said I'd got it wrong but then he admitted it.

"He said it was an itch he had to scratch."

She continued: "I'm still with him. It's affected my confidence a lot and I haven't got the survival instinct to change my life.

"I think this is down to the internet. You can order anything online, it's as easy as ordering a pizza."

Another sex worker exposed the dark side of the industry, recounting the story of an attack to Huntley.

Lola says that her work can actually help marriages.

She told her: "When I arrived he offered me a line of drugs and I said no. You usually get the money part out of the way at the start and I asked him about it.

"But then alarm bells started ringing . He pulled a bin bag out of his pocket and shoved it over my face.

"He was about 6ft 4ins and I'm only just over 5ft. I was screaming and he shoved a sock in my mouth.

"He started demanding money and I told him to take everything but then I passed out."

Sex on the Streets will be broadcast at 9pm on Monday on 5Star.
