Asda Is Selling A Massive Foot-Long Chocolate Eclair For Christmas

Three times longer and twice as tall as its standard-sized chocolate eclairs, Asda is selling this beast for only a fiver

There is now less than a month to go until Crimbo is finally here, and we're already thinking about just how many Celebrations we can stuff into our stomachs.

But there's no need for us to settle for tiny chocolates this year as Asda has gone one step further: by creating a mammoth cream-filled chocolate eclair that you can buy in person at your local store.

The foot-long (12 inch) eclair is the same length as three normal-sized eclairs and twice as tall, making it - by our maths - six times better than your average eclair. Even better, the colossal pastry costs only £5 ($6.67) to buy.

Made from airy choux pastry, whipped cream and fluffy Belgian chocolate mouse, Asda have topped the eclair with a chocolate fondant and a sticky caramel sauce. Talk about a millionaire's dessert.

Sadly, you can't get hold of one of these babies just yet, as it isn't available in Asda stores until Thursday 14 December. That gives us just over a fortnight to clean our drool off the floor.

If chocolate eclairs aren't your thing, maybe the supermarket's other super-sized Christmas dessert will be to your liking - Asda has announced that it will be also selling a giant strawberry Macaron cake.

At £8 ($10.67), this enormous fellow French favourite is slightly costlier than the eclair, but at least you get one of your five a day in there by the looks of it.

According to Asda, the gigantic Gallic goodies came into being after the supermarket's bakery team took a trip to Paris and noticed an emerging trend for enormous 'sharing' desserts - funny phrasing, as I won't be sharing mine.

Inspired, the team then decided to bring the trend back to England - a good deed we will be eternally thankful for.

Claire Reed, product development manager for Asda, said: "Straight from the streets of Paris to Asda shelves, traditional French favourites can now be enjoyed by the whole family this Christmas.

"Our experts have lovingly hand finished our striking new desserts, adding the final touch of affordable luxury to your seasonal soirée - sure to leave your loved ones saying, 'oh la la!'"

Neither of these amazing desserts is available to buy online so you might want to start planning your trip early.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to drain the rainwater from my tent as I queue outside my nearest Asda.
