A new buzz phrase emerged earlier this year called 'Avocado Hand'. This was because of the horror injuries some people sustained while trying to get the stone out of hipsters' favourite brunch item.
When you cut that bad boy open, you use the same knife to lodge the stone out but some bearded crusaders ended up stabbing their finger or hand. However, this could soon be a thing of the past.
Sure, you could just tell people to be smarter when using sharp objects, but it's much easier to sell avocados without stones. I repeat, there's a species of avocado that does NOT have a stone.
But not only have growers managed to find these 'Cocktail Avocados', which are just unpollinated versions of the real-deal, they've also revealed that the skin is edible.
Gone are the days of throwing the stone and skin into the bin and cracking on with the stuff inside - you can now bite into an avo like an apple.
And the best part of all this is that people will no longer need to use extremely sharp knives to dig into the skin and hack out the stone... which should hopefully mean a significant reduction in 'Avocado Hand' injuries like these:
Eurgh. Yes please, any way to make that a thing of the past gets my vote.
The 'cockail avocados' are grown in Spain and only available in December because it's difficult to get conditions just right for them to ripen.
They're being sold in high-end supermarket Marks and Spencer in the UK, but hopefully with enough legwork they might eventually be brought to our shores.
M&S agronomist Charlotte Curtis said: "We've had the mini, the giant, ready-sliced and we're now launching the holy grail of avocados - stoneless!
"This amazing fruit has been on our radar for a couple of years and we're very excited to have finally been able to get hold of some for our customers to try. We know they will be in demand and we've only been able to get our hands on a limited amount so make sure you get them while you can."
The only negative is that they're not readily available in Australia... yet. This is how Australians feel about the UK right now.
Avocados are everywhere in Australia after developing quite a following for being the best thing to add to a brunch menu.
But, somehow, this has also been cited by some as a reason why millennials aren't buying houses - apparently the allure of the green and yellow fruit is far more appealing than saving for a deposit.
However, there's also a huge health benefit to devouring one or two as they're packed with essential vitamins and minerals such as vitamin E, vitamin K, folate and antioxidants and contain more potassium per gram than bananas.
They're high in omega 3 fatty acids, which can help to lower cholesterol and improve heart health, and can be good for weight loss as they release slow burning energy, reducing hunger.
