There's nothing more traditional than fish and chips followed by an ice-cream at the seaside, but this summer Ben & Jerry's is turning the whole concept on its head by serving up deep-fried Phish Food ice-cream and salty, pretzel chips.

The delicious-looking treat is available every Friday from 11am to midnight throughout July at the Ben & Jerry's Soho Scoop Shop for £5.95 ($7.40).

The plate combines Phish Food ice-cream, coated and fried in crispy cornflake batter and crunchy salted pretzel sticks, served with a lemon jelly wedge, chocolate fish chunks, raspberry ketchup and mascarpone tartar sauce. How amazing does that sound?

The dish can be made fully vegetarian by ditching the lemon jelly, if that's your thing.

Ben & Jerry's Flavour Guru said: "We've been calling London's Soho Scoop Shop 'home' for over a year now, so we knew we wanted to celebrate with our community the only way we know how.

"We hope our Phish & Chips experimentation - hot and cold, soft and crunchy, sweet and salty - reels in a treat that will have ice-cream lovers hooked."

Well, I'm already completely sold on the idea.

Earlier this year, Ben & Jerry's announced it would be flogging CBD infused ice-cream in the US, as soon as it was legal to do so.

Currently the United States' Food and Drug Administration does not allow the use of CBD (or cannabidiol) in food and drink.

In a statement on the Ben & Jerry's website the ice-cream makers said: "You probably already know that we're fans of all things groovy.

"So, it's no surprise that we can't wait to get into the latest food trend: cannabidiol, or CBD. We are committed to bringing CBD-infused ice cream to your freezer as soon as it's legalised at the federal level."

Ben & Jerry's CEO, Matthew McCarthy said: "We're doing this for our fans. We've listened and brought them everything from non-dairy indulgences to on-the-go portions with our Pint Slices.

"We aspire to love our fans more than they love us and we want to give them what they're looking for in a fun, Ben & Jerry's way."
