Jamie Oliver, he just can't seem to get it right at the moment - or really since 2005 when he orchestrated the downfall of the Turkey Twizzler.

The celebrity chef who's widely known for his numerous campaigns to make the UK healthier has received backlash for admitting with his own kids he tries to take a balanced approach, and they even eat McDonald's food.

The father-of-five, 43, said that hes's not upset if his teenage daughters eat at McDonald's because she gets healthy options at home.

But he did say he doesn't allow fizzy drinks in his home as he views them as a treat to be enjoyed while out and about.

Speaking to Hello magazine, he said: "I've got five kids, I know the drill. I am kind of relaxed.

"But if you were to say, "Oh I saw Daisy hanging out at Maccy D's", I personally wouldn't be upset because I know at home, we largely give her only good options."

Oh, but the rest of us have to steer clear in the UK? That's hardly fair, Jamie.

And while Jamie doesn't believe in over-indulging in sweet treats his children - Poppy, 16, Daisy, 15, Petal, nine, Buddy, seven, and River, two - aren't completely banned from enjoying sweet treats.

He explained that his distaste for too many fizzy drinks stems from his own childhood. He said the sugary drinks were a treat 'supposed to make the cinema or the funfair exciting'.

"I love all food. Yes, sugar has been particularly misused over the years and I think that's a narrative which is really clear," he explained.

The celebrity chef has been in the news a lot recently. The announcement he would be teaming up with Tesco to create 'healthy and affordable' recipes has been savagely trolled online.

The idea should have been a winner, but it just didn't go down well.

One person made use of caps-lock to tweet: "This guy is such a killjoy on everything tasty. BRING BACK TURKEY TWIZLERS AND DON'T TAKE AWAY ANY MORE OF MY SUGARY, FATTY OR SALTY FOODS."

Another person simple tweeted the middle finger emoji no less than 128 times. Seems a tad harsh.

This also reignited the old fiery debate about our beloved childhood favorites, turkey twizzlers. Yes, they probably were only like 40 per cent actual turkey, and we get that Jamie had they very intentions, but they were great right?

One woman even launched a petition to bring back the old school meal and it's actually doing pretty well.

The petition has now got a grand total of over 19,000 signatures.
