Creme Eggs Spotted On Sale Five Months Early

"So Mary hasn’t told Joseph she’s pregnant yet, but Creme Eggs for Easter are already in stores."

Whether you're a festive fanatic or you're already Bah Humbugging at the thought of having to endure yet another Brussels Sprouts-fuelled Christmas, you'll probably all agree that it's a little too early to be thinking about Easter... what with it being nearly FIVE FREAKIN' MONTHS away.

Yes, it's definitely premature. That said, a number of shops in the UK are choosing to ignore the seasonal restrictions by stocking up on Cadbury's Creme Eggs and Mini Eggs before Christmas. Because chocolate.

Shoppers who spotted the treats were understandably left 'confused but delighted' at the early appearance of the springtime seasonal favourites, taking to Twitter to offer up their opinion on the matter.

Wait, Mary hasn't told Joseph she's pregnant yet? That was a short pregnancy.

Anyway, a number of stores have posted snapshots of the chocolatey treats while justifying their decision to promote them a whole five months early.

Although the move has generally received a warm reception (seriously, who doesn't love a Creme Egg?), some were angered by the fact that the treats were put on sale in November.

One guy wrote: "Oh god Cadbury's creme eggs ok sale in central London ALREADY. Are they now a Christmas thing?" Another said: "Not even December yet and shops have already got creme eggs and mini eggs out... crazy!"

While we can get on board with the Easter treats' early release, it does open up the issue of seasonal sales. If shops are selling Springtime products in November, does this mean we'll soon start seeing Halloween gear in May? Or Christmas ads in July?

Or will the shops eventually give up on annual restrictions and it'll just be a marketing free-for-all?

Although that sounds like a very bad proposal, it hasn't happened yet. And perhaps we're missing the point - yes, it's a bit premature, but let's not forget that Cadbury's Creme Eggs and Mini Eggs are delicious and they're available in the shops right now.

Loads of people are on board so we might as well just join the party and add Creme Eggs to our long list of Christmas treats. What with the Jaffa yard scandal (#JaffaGate), maybe they'd even make a worthy replacement.
