Ah, Lidl. The budget supermarket has done some pretty amazing things lately, with its announcement of a pay boost for 16,000 of its staff at the top of the list and closely followed by that booze that doesn't give you a hangover.

The German retailer has now said that it'll be taking part in Black Friday next week, offering up to 75 percent off on some of its food, gadgets and booze for a limited time only.

The most impressive deals include a bottle of champers for under a tenner and £70 off a George Foreman grill. Get in.

Curiously, though, this is the first time that Lidl has taken part in any Black Friday and it's launching a day early on Thursday 23 November.

Yes, you read that right: Thursday. This looks like a fundamental misunderstanding of the name 'Black Friday', but we'll let slide.

Ryan McDonnell, commercial director at Lidl UK, said: "We're pleased to be taking part in our first ever Black Friday promotion.

"This is a highly anticipated event in the consumer calendar, especially as households turn their focus on to Christmas planning, and we know our fantastic promotion will not disappoint."

And he's not wrong, check out this 16oz Tomahawk steak, which is on offer for the first time at the budget supermarket.

They're selling the beast of British rib-eye beef at £14.99 per kg which - compared to Waitrose selling it at £26.99 - is a fucking steal.

If that's not enough meat for you, Lidl is also knocking out a 6.5kg Serrano ham leg for £29.99.

But it's the booze where Lidl really smash it, for a mere £8.99 you can pick up a bottle Champagne Brut - less than half the usual price you'd fork out for one and perfect for blagging you're classy while getting smashed for cheap.

And for just £2.99 you can pick up a bottle of Cimarosa Australian Chardonnay, less than three quid for a bottle of wine that doesn't taste like battery acid? Count me in.

Really, though, if you're considering braving the Black Friday hordes just for a pound off a bottle of wine, you should probably sort your priorities out.
