We're coming up to that magical time of the year when things get a little spooky - and when pumpkin-spiced-everything is the order of the day.

For many years, pumpkin-spice lattes have been the seasonal trend. This year, even Greggs is even taking a slice of the pie and will be offering up its own edition of the drink this autumn.

However, over the years we've seen a number of weird pumpkin-spiced concoctions, from Cheerios to protein powder. Oh, and even dog treats.

But how about pumpkin-spice chocolate? A step too far, perhaps? Lindt certainly doesn't think so, as it's started serving up truffles infused with the popular autumnal flavour.

Per the product description, Lindt's Pumpkin Spice truffles are 'delicious milk chocolate with a delectably smooth pumpkin spice flavoured centre'.

"Perfect for your special fall moments, sharing, entertaining or gift giving," apparently.

While they seem to only be a thing in the States at the moment, if you're elsehwere in the world you can currently buy them online for £6.99 for a pack of 10.

The people are divided - some social media users are giving the chocolatier props for daring to chime in on the flavour trend, while others expected better from a manufacturer of its calibre.

One person tweeted: "Just ate a Lindt Pumpkin Spice Chocolate Truffle. It kind of felt like taking an expired med but it still got the job done."

Another said: "Mmmk Lindt Lindor Pumpkin Spice Milk Chocolate Truffles might be my new religion. Or at least better than Nyquil."

Joanna Fantozzi at The Daily Meal also reviewed the product when the company launched it back in 2016, writing: "The chocolate part of the truffle tastes like a normal Lindor truffle - smooth, creamy milk chocolate - but when you bite into the center, it's like a Fruit Gusher had a baby with a pumpkin spice latte.

"The liquefied, gooey center tastes strongly of synthetic, spicy cinnamon and nutmeg flavor."

That said, it wasn't all bad and Joanna went on to suggest that they might be a good bet for lovers of pumpkin-spice, adding: "These chocolates may be a good product to add to your autumnal sweets collection."

Whatever your taking on the matter, if you've got a sweet tooth and you're looking for a seasonal treat this autumn, Lindor's Pumpkin Spice truffles might be worth a bash.

And if you don't like them, you can just give them out to trick or treaters on Halloween - it's a win, win situation.
