It sounds like it will be nothing short of wonderful

Sure, with summer long gone we're not exactly rushing out to track down the nearest ice cream van for a Mr Whippy anymore. BUT, let's remember that ice creams are for life, not just for balmy August afternoons when you're sat in the park - meaning we're still very interested in the latest creation McDonald's has up its sleeve just for Christmas.

This year, McDonald's adds to its festive range with a Malteser Reindeer McFlurry, which sounds like it will be nothing short of wonderful.

The McFlurries see that snowy white soft-serve ice cream topped with mini Malteser reindeer chocolates, along with swirls of chocolate sauce - and, as per the recent changes, are available in either a standard size for £1.29 or a mini one for 89p.

The special McFlurries are on sale from Wednesday 21 November at McDonald's restaurants across the UK, and will be joined by a new festive coffee, the Millionaire's Latte, which features a large shot of espresso blended with steamed milk and a caramel biscuit flavour syrup, topped with chocolate cream and a caramel drizzle - yours for £1.99 (medium) or £2.99 (large).

This all sounds great, but it would certainly make for one very, very sweet spread.

If you prefer your Christmas with a little less chocolate and a lot more pig, how about Greggs' new pots of pigs in blankets? They've been added to the seasonal menu, which is out now and also features the almighty Festive Bake, the widely-cherished pasty stuffed with chicken, stuffing and sweetcure bacon in a creamy sage and cranberry sauce with the signature crumb topping.

Or there's also the Christmas lunch sandwich, which crams an entire Christmas dinner in between two slices of bread - we're talking sliced turkey breast, sage and onion stuffing, sweetcure bacon, salad leaves, cranberry and port sauce and mayonnaise.

Look, I know we all miss the days of frolicking in the sun with a Fab lolly and a few ice-cold tinnies, but let's embrace the cold, winter months for all the good stuff they bring. If all that is is Malteser McFlurries, an endless stream of pigs in blankets and Greggs Festive Bakes, then I'm okay with that.

Oh, and family time and good will and all that jazz - but realistically I'm just here for the festive snacks.
