Along with the enigmatic Nando's Black Card and the mysterious Gregg's VIP pass, the McDonald's McGold Card has been the stuff of legend in the fast food sector for years.
While a number of theorists have claimed Rob Lowe, Bill Gates, and Warren Buffet are all McGold holders, we've never seen solid proof that this thing exists.

However, that is all set to change - in what might be one of the most monumental moments in Maccies history, the fast food chain has confirmed it is real, and they are set to hand out one of the 24-carat cards to a lucky winner.
In case the rumours have passed you by, the card entitles its owner to two free Maccies for the rest of their lives. Well actually, it's for 50 years - but close enough.
The confirmation was announced this week when McDonald's released a video that cites how it's running a competition to give one person a gold card of their own.

And it's not just some flimsy, glitter-covered card - the pass will in fact be a 24-carat gold phone case engraved by the winner's name. Now that's special.
The only downside (and it's a pretty big downside) is that the competition to find the winner is being held across the pond in the America. Womp, womp.
If you do happen to reside in the US, then don't miss out on this once in a lifetime opportunity. You could be a part of history in the making - the lucky sod who bagged themselves free hamburgers for life.

All you have to do is open up your McDonald's app and place an order any time between Friday 10 August and 24 August to be in the running (smart move from McDonald's right there).
Or for those who don't want to pay to enter, you can simply email [email protected] with the date in the subject line and your full name in the body of the email.
If you live in the UK, you could always go and get your own golden phone case made up and pretend like you're not shelling out a tenner every time you grab an after-work Maccies. But frankly, that doesn't sound like it'd be much fun.

Maybe just face up to the reality that you're probably never going to own a McDonald's McGold Card. It's okay though, because Bacon Double Cheeseburgers. Oh, sweet lawd.
