Christmas, believe it or not, is less than a month away. And what is Christmas all about? That's right, food - and lots of it.

Restaurants and supermarkets have brought out the big guns this year, in a festive bid to out-do each other. Highlights include: deep fried Christmas dinner, the Yorkshire pudding meal wrap, massive pigs in blankets and even 'pigs in duvets'.

Now Nando's is muscling in on the action with the launch of peri-peri gravy.

Predictably, the gravy is made using chicken and is said to be a little bit fiery, which is also not particularly surprising.

A jug of the stuff will cost you £1.25, then it's yours to pour as and where you see fit; though as northerners and Canadians can attest, all over those chips is a damn good place to start

If you want a slice of the action, don't hang about - the gravy will only be available from 4 December to 31 December.

Safe to say, people seem keen to say the least.

But while this festive addition to the menu is undoubtedly exciting, don't expect them to start serving up turkeys in the international Portuguese inspired chicken chain. In fact, don't expect anything else to be different on the menu - the peri-peri gravy is the restaurant's Christmas menu.

A Nando's spokesman said: "Just in time for Christmas, and for a limited time only, the eagerly anticipated addition of Nando's new, hot and tasty PERi-PERi Chicken Gravy will sit at the heart of its 2018 Christmas menu... because it is the 2018 Christmas menu.

"Nando's take on a British classic, PERi-PERi Chicken Gravy is rich and warming, with fiery, herby notes - perfect for cold winter days and nights, in the build-up to Jolly Old St. Nicholas."

Looks like it's going to be a merry peri Christmas at Nandho ho ho's... Sorry that was dreadful. Roll on January.
