Forget Amazon's Alexa, This Home Assistant Will Pour You A Bourbon

Jim Beam's JIM may not be able to book you a cab or check the weather but who cares about that when you've got a drink in your hand?

If you were a tad wary of these electronic home assistants that have been cropping up for a year or so, perhaps you will change your mind when you learn that there's now one that can fix you a stiff drink.

Jim Beam's JIM may not be able to check your diary for important business meetings or order you a taxi, but it can pour you a big old glass of bourbon, and who gives a shit about any of that other boring admin stuff when you've got a drink in your hand?

The voice-activated drinks dispenser costs just $35 (around £26) and in order to have JIM get down to work, all you need to do is say: "Hey, JIM, pour me a drink."

JIM will then oblige, pouring you a delicious drink, before remarking: "Time to make history."

The boozy robot bartender has been available for pre-order, delivering before December 15, however, it's currently listed on Jim Beam's website as being out of stock.

In a video demonstrating the dispenser, a man asks: "Hey Jim, what's the best way to drink bourbon?"

JIM, voiced by seventh generation master distiller, John Noe, responds: "Any damn way you please."

Asked what the weather is today, JIM responds: "I have no idea, but I do know that it's the perfect weather to enjoy bourbon."

On the official Jim Beam website, where JIM can be purchased, it states: "Introducing the latest cutting edge innovation from Jim Beam:registered:, "JIM," the world's first smart decanter.

"Voiced by Seventh Generation Master Distiller, Fred Noe, the decanter includes a sleek compartment for bourbon storage and voice command capabilities. Unlike other smart home devices, 'JIM' offers groundbreaking shot-pouring functionality that allows legal drinking age consumers to serve up a drink without lifting a finger.

"First generation 'JIM' is available in very limited quantities, so pre-order yours before they run out!"

If you didn't manage to get your hands on one in time, don't worry, because the website states that the outage is only temporary. However, customers are only allowed to buy one JIM decanter each, given the machine's limited nature.
