We don't want to cause any hysteria here, but we thought we should let you know that there's going to be a door-to-door Aperol Spritz delivery service in London and Manchester in August.
OK, everybody sit down and calm yourselves immediately. Here's the situation.

For three days, starting on 13 August, the streets of London will be graced with a little orange spritzmobile as it scoots its way to a few selected houses to serve up complimentary glasses of our beloved orange nectar.
And then the fun heads to Manchester for another three days.
It's all in aid of National Prosecco Day (yeah, apparently it's a thing) on 13 August, which, as we know, puts the spritz in Aperol Spritz.

To receive your Aperol-ivery, all you have do is choose a location and enter your details on the Aperol Spritz Socials website.
The Aperol Spritz is most certainly the tipple of our time - we can't bloody get enough of the stuff. A bit of good weather and it's straight down the beer garden for a spritz in the sunshine.
And while it's definitely our drink of the moment, the humble Aperol Spritz has been a popular choice of apertivo in Italy since the 50s.

Made with bitter and sweet oranges and an assortment of herbs and roots, Aperol was created in 1919 as a competitor to Campari (the main ingredient in a negroni - another top tipple) and has garnered itself quite a following in Italy ever since.
It wasn't until recent years that the drink blew up in the UK. But now it seems Instagrammers everywhere are living to document the aesthetically pleasing orange liquid in its trendy high-stemmed glass.
But don't worry if you're not lucky enough to get a spritz delivered to your door. It's simple enough to make your own. All you have to do is:

Fill a wine glass with ice (yes we know it means you get less in the glass but it looks good, ok?) then pour in a good shot of Aperol and follow that with some Proescco. Top it up with a little splash of soda water and voila. You can pop a slice of orange if there too, if you're feeling fancy.
And there you go: for those of us who aren't lucky enough to receive a gift from the Aperol fairy.
Salute!
