Wetherspoon Hot Dogs Could Soon Be Off The Menu For Good

If you really love Wetherspoon hot dogs you might want to sit down for this.

Wetherspoon could be about to make the life-changing decision to remove hot dogs from its menu.

Ah, Wetherspoon - pints for less than the price of a house, three meals a day, and themed evenings for Steak, Curry, and all of the best things in life.

We all love a good Spoons for all of these reasons and more, but when it comes to what we love, we often fear change.

The other week the chain was forced to call off Steak Night after a food hygiene scandal hit its meat supplier. Rather than thinking about the potential food poisoning that they had been saved, some punters were pissed off that they couldn't get their steak on a Tuesday.

Well, if you're the kind of person who goes to Wetherspoon for a regular dose of sausage and bread, get ready for a shock. The Wetherspoon hotdog might soon be off the menu in most of the chain's pubs.

The hot dogs were only added to the menu 10 months ago.

This is part of a trial period in which hot dogs are off the menu for a while in a number of pubs to see how much people miss them.

If the backlash is strong enough, they'll probably come back.

One guy who is hoping to kick up enough of a fuss in order to get his beloved hot dogs back is Gavin Jones. Gavin is so mad about the loss of his favourite meal that he is considering - wait for it - going to another pub! Imagine that.

He told The Mirror Online: "I popped into The Standing Order - the main Wetherspoon pub in Derby - for my usual lunchtime hot dog [yesterday] but the girl behind the bar just said 'sorry, we don't do hot dogs anymore'.

"I looked at the menu and sure enough all the hot dogs - the classic and the gourmet options - were gone.

"I'm absolutely gutted. They were massive and delicious. I don't know why they've been dumped as they were easy to cook and quite cheap to source, I imagine.

"Hopefully they'll realise they've made a huge mistake and change their mind. Until then I'll have to have a burger - or find another pub that does hot dogs."

Wetherspoon has about 1,000 pubs around Britain, but there are presumably still some out there that Gavin could go to for his precious hot dog, and they probably wouldn't miss him too much.
