It's often said that the old ones are the best, and while the world of gaming has evolved dramatically over the past couple of decades, there are many among us who still hanker for the golden oldies.

It's for this reason that we have now been blessed with a Crash Team Racing remake, and surprise surprise, people are loving it.

The remake - Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled - was released yesterday (Friday) and is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.

The game features a lot of the old tracks - such as Crash Cove, Mystery Caves, and Sewer Speedway - but with way more detail than before. Similarly, many of the old characters have returned, but now they can be customised with a range of skins, karts and stickers.

In total at time of launch, there are 34 tracks and 26 characters for players to choose between. There are also seven game modes and an online multiplayer mode.

But if you're going to dig up a much-loved classic like this and remake it, you better be sure you hit the mark.

Fortunately, judging by the reaction on Twitter, it seems people are well pleased with the reincarnation:

But one tweet perhaps summed up our infatuation with nostalgia better than all the rest:

The buzz about the game on social media has been mirrored in its reviews, with the game currently boasting a score of 85/100 on Metacritic, 8.2 out of 10 on IGN and full marks on Games Radar.

So what you waiting for? Get your pals together and take a trip down memory lane/Sewer Speedway.
