Crash Bandicoot fans, rejoice - a remaster of Crash Team Racing has been confirmed... and the trailer looks fantastic.

There was much excitement and speculation about the prospect earlier this week, following an orange fluffy dice teaser, which many believed alluded to a potential CTR remaster announcement. Sure enough, these dreams were confirmed by Activision at The Game Awards in California, USA.

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fuelled will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. Better still, it will be released on 21 June, which isn't really too far away. The game will be a faithful recreation of the original, with all characters, tracks and arenas returning. Battle, Adventure, Arcade Single, Cup Race and Time Trials game modes will all return too, and these modes will also be available in an online multi-player format.

However, visuals and audio have undergone a complete revamp, to keep the bandicoot up to pace with 2019.

Thomas Wilson from Beenox, who are developing the game, say they are keen to ensure the revamp is faithful to the original.

Speaking to IGN, he said: "We boot up our PS1 and we start playing Crash Team Racing again, getting a sense of what that experience was and what the game we fell in love with to begin with [was].

"What we do is make sure when we're tweaking the controls this feels right to the people who fell in love with the game in the first place and it feels right to newcomers.

"We wanted to keep [the sounds of CTR] as close as possible, so we're remastering the original soundtrack."

Quite rightly, people are very excited indeed:

In the US, the standard version of the game will be priced at $39.99 and the Nitros Oxide version will cost $59.99.
