Ben Stokes would be proud of this one...

Amazing video footage shows the moment a sportsman managed to catch a phone that had flown from another person's pocket on an 83mph rollercoaster.

Yep, it's a stunning grab and should surely see him drafted into the England team for the fifth and final Ashes cricket test.

Oh, wait. He's actually from New Zealand.

Well, English cricket's loss is very much the gain of one passenger on the Shambhala rollercoaster at Spain's PortAventura theme park, after Samuel Kempf pulled off a stunning grab to rescue their phone from total destruction.

Samuel was in Europe for the Fistballing World Championships, but decided to take some time out to visit the theme park with his family.

In case you're confused, fistball is a bit like volleyball only, like, angrier somehow?

Well, Google it or something.

That's not the point. The point is, as the phone flew by Samuel at 83mph he reached out an arm and managed to grab hold of it.

Samuel says he saw the man who was a couple of rows in front of him drop the phone, which is when he sprang into action.

Samuel was in Spain for the World Fistballing Championships.

He told Stuff.co.nz: "He was trying to reach down and grab it but because he was locked in he couldn't reach it.

"And I just jokingly said to my brother and the people we were with 'get ready to catch'.

"The ride started and I totally forgot about it because I was just in the moment 'cause it was such a good ride and then after the first drop we rose up and I just saw the phone drift across my view so I reached out and managed to catch it."

Being the stand up chap that he is, once the ride finished Samuel immediately returned the phone to the rightful owner, who was looking for it on the ground, obviously unaware that it had been sensationally snaffled by Samuel.

He continued: "He couldn't believe it, he gave me a big hug."

The guest 'couldn't believe' Samuel had saved his phone.

Well, it's not every day that someone pulls off a once in a lifetime catch like that one.

The guy was so grateful that he bought a video for Samuel to document the catch. To be fair, it's not the kind of thing that anyone would believe without video proof nowadays.

Since it was shared online, the video has been viewed hundreds of thousands of times, with a load of social media users chipping in to congratulate Samuel on his reactions.
