When booking a holiday around Europe, most of my mates will tell me exactly how much a beer costs in any given location instead of whether it was a good place to travel.

So those who are looking to get the best bang for their buck are in luck.

GoEuro has put together a list of the cheapest places in the world to pick up a beer, both at the bar or in a supermarket.

For the second year in a row Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, has come out on top. You can get a 33cl bottle of beer at the shops for 51 US cents (41p). On average, you can get the same sized beer at the pub for $2.80 (£2.25). That is a goddamn bargain if I've ever seen one.

Coming in the top five after Bratislava is Kiev (Ukraine), Cape Town (South Africa), Krakow (Poland) and Mexico City (Mexico).

Prague just missed out on a top 10 spot but managed to come in first on the list of cities which drink the most amount of beer. People living in the Czech capital drink on average 172 litres (38 gallons) every year.

Warsaw and Krakow followed close behind, as did three cities in Germany (Frankfurt, Berlin and Munich) as well as Belgrade and Vienna.

But if you're heading to Lausanne in Switzerland - you might want to steer clear of beer, or any alcohol in general. The average price of a 33cl beer will set you back $9.51 (£7.60). It wasn't Switzerland's only entry into the most expensive beverages, with Zurich and Geneva making the top five. Luckily, the price drops dramatically from first to second.

If you're deciding where to travel to next - at least you're now a bit more informed.

But imagine getting paid to travel the world and drink beer. Sounds like a crazy fantasy that couldn't possibly be real.

Well, a Florida based chain called World Of Beer is looking for three interns to do just that.

The lucky trio will get to visit a number of breweries around the globe and drink at festivals. In conjunction with all the supping, they'll have to update the trip on social media - not too much of a chore considering you'd probably be doing that anyway.

For the four months as a 'Drink It Intern', you'll get a tidy sum of $12,000 (£9,677), as well as your expenses covered. Not bad at all.

The company says: "The interns will be reporting on a behind-the-scenes look at the beer industry, covering brewery and WOB events, while gaining real-world experience in a professional field that offers limitless possibilities."

Unfortunately for those salivating at their keyboard wondering how to get in on the process - applications have closed. The three very lucky interns will be picked by the end of April.
