The emergency services and NHS have been looking after our little country for probably as far back as your memory allows you to go (and longer).

Well, now Iceland is giving something back - in the shape of free ice cream and pizza for anyone who works in that sector. And I thought there would never come a job that would top being a groundbreaking journalist...

According to the Mirror, Iceland has launched a very heartwarming new deal, that gives a voucher for free food to every single NHS and emergency services worker that shows their Iceland NHS bonus card at the till.

Fair play, can't think of anyone who deserves it more.

Alongside the usual shopping receipt, emergency service workers will get two bonus ones, with each one entitling them to a free pizza and a free ice cream - worth £1 individually. Whoop!

The offer is available at every store and is not valid online, claims the Mirror after confirming with the supermarket.

The printed coupons will be distributed between 9-15 September, when anyone with an Emergency Service Bonus card swipes it at the till. Then they have until 22 September to redeem their goodies.

Back in July, Hallmark Hotels were offering a free stay to celebrate the 70-year NHS milestone.

The offer was for the remainder of 2018 but it got a little bit of stick from people complaining about the T&Cs.

The free overnight stay was available every Sunday evening when NHS staff spent £50 on food and drink in the bars and restaurants within the hotel.

Michelle Anderson, head of marketing said: "This month marked a momentous anniversary for the NHS and Hallmark want to reward the deserving staff all year round at Hallmark Hotels.

"The NHS do something for each and every one of us and it's our time to thank them with a relaxing stay where they can unwind and be pampered."

The offer is valid until 24 December, and should be redeemed online by clicking here.

NHS identification must be shown at check-in to qualify for this offer. If this is not provided, the booking will revert to the normal price.

Online the website advertises the free stay for 'NHS Heroes' adding: "To celebrate the 70th year of the wonderful NHS, we're welcoming all NHS team members to stay at any of our 22 Hallmark Hotels (Hallmark Inns excluded) on Sundays throughout 2018.

"To qualify, simply spend a minimum of £50 on food and beverage in our Hallmark Grill or lounge bar. Our menu offers a no fuss collection of best of British comfort food with some international favourites thrown in for good measure."

The £50 is to be prepaid at the time of booking and is non-refundable and non-transferable. And the food spend cannot be used for breakfast - that will be charged separately.

Unless you used your coupon for free pizza followed by ice cream for your breakkie... problem solved.
