These days a stag or hen do isn't just the case of a few jars at the pub or a nice dinner out before calling it a night. Hell no. In our modern day and age, people go BIIIIIG - which is absolute hell for our bank balance, of course, but great news for the sesh.

Usually a stag or a hen do not only involves several days of activities, but also jetting off to another country - a nice change of scenery, where there's a new batch of bars and clubs to conquer.

But with so many options out there, where do you get the most bang for your buck?

According to a newly-released index by Website Builder Expert, Lisbon is your best bet when it comes to value for money, coming out on top in a ranking of 42 popular stag and hen do destinations.

RICHARD AYOADE AND ADAM BUXTON EXPLAIN WHY LISBON'S SO GOOD:

The index considered a range of criteria, including the cost of a pint of beer and a cocktail, the cost of a three-star hotel, the average temperatures between April and August and the density of pubs, bars and cheap eateries per square kilometre.

The Portuguese capital has become an increasingly popular European destination for people after a long weekend that has everything - a great food and drink scene, buzzing nightlife and, better still, decent prices.

On top of all that, the index revealed that Lisbon also has one of the best spring and summer climates with temperatures that usually hang between 21C and 27C - perfect beer garden stuff, that.

It also has one of the highest concentrations of bars and clubs at 3.67 per square kilometre, meaning grooms and brides to be easily achieve the BNO they expect.

So where were the runners up? Well, second place might surprise you a bit: Bucharest, the capital of Romania.

According to the index, Bucharest benefits from warm summer temperatures and reasonably priced drinks, food and accomodation, making it a pretty ideal spot.

Liverpool and Manchester over in the UK came in at third and fourth place, respectively, while classic stag do location Prague was fifth.

While the index warned against pricey places like Oslo, Ibiza, London and New York, the top 10 was rounded off by Krakow, Madrid, Dubrovnik, Bright and Bratislava, making it a pretty interesting (and certainly mixed) bunch.
