Hunter Fined £1,000 After Boasting About Shooting Deer On Bumble

The woman bragged about the kill in a chat on the app, unaware the man she was chatting to was a game warden

A hunter has become the hunted in the feeding ground that is Bumble.

In a conversation on the dating app, a woman launched straight into bragging about the fact she had 'just shot a bigo buck' - oblivious to the fact the man she was chatting with was a game keeper.

The man subsequently played a game or rope a dope, coaxing the details out of the woman before ultimately fining her $1,400 (£1,095) and confiscating her rifle.

Cannon Harrison, 24, works for the Oklahoma Game Wardens team in the US, and is tasked with protecting wildlife in the area. As such, he isn't really the kind of guy you pull by bragging about killing a deer.

Though come to think of it, who is? Maybe in Oklahoma things are different, but in the UK 'Just shot a bigo buck. Pretty happy about it', isn't a textbook opening gambit.

Mr Harrison pretended to be impressed by the woman's kill, keen to ascertain whether the deer had been killed through the illegal method of 'spotlighting'. The method involves hunters shining a light, often car headlights, in the eyes of the deer, which of course causes them to freeze in terror, leading to an easy shot from the vehicle.

"Hell yeah, get em with a bow?" he asked.

"Well we don't need to talk about that," she replied.

"Haha spotlight?" he asked.

"Yeahhh," she admitted.

The Oklahoma Game Warden managed to establish that the woman had killed the deer by 'spotlighting'.

Having sneakily established the deer was killed illegally, Mr Harrison managed to acquire the woman's address. But she realised she had bumbled off track when Mr Harrison turned up at the property with the game wardens team.

She pleaded guilty to the offence and paid multiple fines, totalling $1,400 (£1,095). She also had her rifle confiscated.

Oklahoma Game Wardens shared an account of the tale on their Facebook page.

The post read: "As Game Wardens our personal lives are often blurred into our professional lives. This is often the case when it comes to social media, personal cell phones, and now dating apps....

"The woman he was conversing with on a dating app revealed she had just killed a 'Bigo' buck. Obviously not knowing Cannon is a game warden her date night took a turn for the worst!

"Oklahoma Game wardens arrived at the property, she killed the deer and made the illegal deer case. She has already pleaded guilty and paid multiple fines.

"Thanks to Warden Harrison for sharing this entertaining case!"

Doubtless the wardens will have few easier catches. She was like a deer in the headlights.

How beautifully ironic.
