You Can Get Paid £12,000 To Sleep For 70 Days

You Can Get Paid £12,000 To Sleep For 70 Days

Don't think you get enough sleep? This could literally be a dream job.

We all think we could do with getting some more sleep - and we'd do it for free - but NASA is offering a job that pays £12,000 to sleep for 70 days.

In order to see how the human body adapts to weightlessness, scientists are recruiting participants for a 'bed rest' study.

NASA says that developing countermeasures for the effects of space flight often requires investigators to rely on human subjects to support data collection - so they basically need people to sleep through their studies.

In the study, the human test subject must live, eat, and even shower in the same position as it causes the body, and cardiovascular system, to adapt as if it were in space and then they're monitored.

Results allow countermeasures to be devised that will help astronauts on space missions, as well as bed-ridden people on Earth.

So you get to sleep through seven Mondays and help the future of the human race in the process - could there be a better job?

If the idea of prepping for space exploration isn't your thing, you could try the same thing a bit closer to home - over in Finland.

Back in 2013, Helsinki's Hotel Finn was hiring full-time sleepers to test the comfort of their beds in order to help them improve their guest experience.

People literally got paid to take 40 winks in one of their 35 rooms.

However, acute laziness wasn't the only qualification they were looking for.

In fact, the successful applicant was required to speak fluent English and Finnish, with Russian considered an additional bonus.

If sleeping all the time isn't your thing (why not?), you could always use your mad hugging skills to be a professional cuddler.

Madelon Guinazzo, a 50-year-old mother from Chicago, loves what she does for a living - and she earns £30,000 ($39,863) a year from it - even though what she does is, well, a little bit unusual.

Madelon is a professional cuddler.

She has almost a decade's experience cuddling - presumably she has more as an amateur, but went pro in 2009 - and charges £60 ($79.93) an hour to clients whom she meets through a company, Cuddlist.

But getting paid to sleep, all in the name of science? Sign me up.

You never know - you could be a hero and finally get that eight hours we all so desperately want.
