Extinction Rebellion protestors have parked a truck in the middle of Brisbane's CBD this morning and blocked all three lanes of traffic on Edward St.

According to Brisbane Times, the climate activists rocked up at about 7.15am. Two protestors climbed on top of the truck and refused to come down as they protested with a megaphone. One of the demonstrators used a lock-on device to lock themselves to the truck.

They also reportedly carried banners that read 'Citizens Assembly Not Climate Collapse' and 'Net-Zero 2025' as part of their call for urgent action on the climate crisis.

Upon the video of the disruption being posted to Facebook by 7News, many were quick to blast the activists for blocking traffic and delaying public transport as commuters made their way to work on Monday morning.

One commenter wrote: "If protests effect anyone else, like stopping traffic, and causing hardship for people who are minding there own business, and going and coming from work etc.....then it's not a good protest, and they all need to be charged with obstruction and being a public nuisance."

Another added: "Most of them would just be followers & not really know why they are protesting ... they should be fined."

The group are also planning to hold a mass mobilisation called 'Defy Disaster' this Thursday in which they will hold a public disruptive protest starting at 4pm in Post Office Square in Brisbane City.

The two protestors have since been taken into custody by police.
