Dylan Alcott has signed his name into a very exclusive club of tennis greats after winning the US Open Quad singles title.

The Australian legend has now achieved a Golden Grand Slam for 2021.

His US Open win now joins his victory at the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and his gold medal from the Tokyo Paralympic Games.

It's a feat only few tennis athletes can dream of.

Alcott secured his Golden Grand Slam after beating Dutchman Niels Vink in straight sets (7-5, 6-2) at Flushing Meadows.

Speaking after the win, the 30-year-old said: "I can't believe I just won the Golden Slam. I used to hate myself so much, I hated my disability, I didn't even want to be here any more.

"I found tennis and it changed and saved my life. Now I've become the only male ever in any form of tennis to win the Golden Slam which is pretty cool."

He also thanked the international tennis organisation for changing his and other wheelchair athletes' lives.

Alcott praised them for 'putting us on stadium courts' and 'giving disabled people a platform'.

His match finished just 30 minutes before Novak Djokovic was due to hit centre court for his match.

Alcott's win at Flushing Meadows is one of 15 major titles for the tennis star and it came just one week after he dominated at the Tokyo Paralympic Games.

He also questioned whether he'll be able to keep competing at all the major Grand Slam events in the future.

"To everybody at home, I love you. Hopefully this puts a smile on your face. Better times are around the horizon," he said.

"To everybody in New York, I feel honoured and privileged to be out here on this court.

"I'll going to be upfront, I don't know whether I'll be back here, so I really appreciate everything.

"Thanks for making a young, fat disabled kid with a really bad haircut, thanks for making his dreams come true because I can't believe that I just did it."

What an absolute legend.
