Drake dedicated his show last to Mac Miller, who tragically died yesterday.

Speaking to the packed-out audience at his Boston show, Drake said: "I want to dedicate this show to my late friend Mac Miller who was always a kind man.

"We about to go in for Mac tonight."

He then went on to perform his hit Emotionless.

Fans and fellow artists were left reeling after the shocking news of Miller's sudden death broke last night.

Following the news tributes poured in for the star, taking to social media Missy Elliott wrote: "I'm so saddened to hear about Mac Miller such a kind spirit. Sending prayers for strength for his family, friends and fans during this difficult time."

While, former Oasis singer Liam Gallagher simply said: "Mac miller RIP x"

His ex-girlfriend Nomi Leasure, who met Miller in high school and dated him for six years, took Instagram to share a post titled 'the art of healing', she captioned it: "Wrote this nearly a week ago, about a person who forever changed my life. But in truth, no one could ever really know."

The post read: "They say living in the past is what causes depression, so have no past.

"She was choosing to have no past - to not let a person exist only in a former state of her being. Because then she was locked there too, stuck also in that intangible place. Some version of herself a 'back then'. A version she couldn't determine if she still or ever really was.

"If you had seen them sitting there you'd determine he liked pale ales, she was getting tipsy and was trying to be restrained. He had a lot to unload. A lot of untruths to untangle from the headlines. And she had always been a good listener."

In a statement last night, his family said: "Malcolm McCormick, known and adored by fans as Mac Miller, has tragically passed away at the age of 26.

"He was a bright light in this world for his family, friends and fans. Thank you for your prayers. Please respect our privacy. There are no further details as to the cause of his death at this time."

Miller, who was 26, was pronounced dead at his Los Angeles home just before midday yesterday. He was found by police and paramedics in an unresponsive state.

Coroners are to conduct an investigation to determine his cause of death.
