Dolores O'Riordan, the lead singer of The Cranberries, has died at the age of 46, her publicist has announced. The cause of her death has not yet been made public.
The Irish alt-rock band enjoyed a great deal of success throughout the 1990s, and was known for hits including singles 'Linger' and 'Zombie'. Their debut full-length album, Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?, also helped catapult the group into mainstream success after its release in 1993.
"The lead singer with the Irish band The Cranberries was in London for a short recording session," a statement from her publicist said.

The statement also said: "Family members are devastated to hear the breaking news and have requested privacy at this very difficult time."
Tributes have already begun pouring in for the singer, including from famous faces in music and the wider entertainment industry.

While the band hasn't tweeted for a couple of weeks, O'Riordan had recently taken to The Cranberries' official Twitter account to wish fans a merry Christmas.
The Irish singer-songwriter was born in Limerick in 1971, and was with The Cranberries from 1990. When the band decided to go on hiatus in 2003, O'Riordan pursued a solo career, releasing albums Are You Listening? and No Baggage in 2007 and 2009, respectively.

The Cranberries then reunited in 2009, and went on to make two further albums - 2012's Roses and Something Else, a 2017 album covering earlier songs with the Irish Chamber Orchestra - before O'Riordan's death.
Her heartfelt vocals became central to the band's signature sound, making The Cranberries hugely successful not only in the UK, but also across the globe.
