We've all got our best mates. Whether it's your pal who you love going out on the sesh with or that friend who always knows the right thing to say to make you laugh, that's what buddies are there for.

Your best mate is usually a bromance. That's that one mate you can't live without and love more than anyone else.

Well, no matter how strong you think your friendship is with your crony, here's a bromance that takes it to the next level.

Two massive LADs in Oahu, Hawaii discovered they are actually brothers after 60 years of friendship having undergone a DNA test through ancestry.com.

KHON2 has reported that brothers in arms, Alan Robinson and Walter Macfarlane, are now considering each other as part of the FAM after receiving the stunning news over the festive season.

They originally met in the sixth grade of school. Let's hope they've not been buying each other crappy presents for the past few years or that is a lot of gift vouchers they need to make up.

Alan was adopted when he was a kid and Walter says in the interview that he never knew his father. That's where the pieces started to fall in to place alongside some other family setbacks.

"I had a younger brother that I lost when he was 19, so I never had nieces or nephews," said Alan, who is only separated from his new sibling by 15 months.

"I thought I'll never know my birth mother, I'll never have any nieces or nephews."

DNA searches then started to turn up answers for Walter, who began looking into his matches with the help of his daughter.

Alan emerged as the strongest match and apparently his yeti-like body hair sealed the deal. That's probably not the most scientific method.

"Yeah, it was shock, definitely, and then we thought about it and compared forearms," said Alan.

"Yeah, hairy arms, that did it!" said Walter. Classic brotherly banter... kinda.

"It was an overwhelming experience, it's still overwhelming. I don't know how long it's going to take for me to get over this feeling," Alan explained.

"This is the best Christmas present I could ever imagine having," he added, so it's great that they are back together.

The pair say they now plan on spending time together in their retirement and they want to go travelling together. Happy Christmas.
