Looks like chivalry is alive and well after all

It's moments like this that restore your faith in humanity - a biker stopped at a zebra crossing, got off his bike and helped an old lady across the road.

The sweet act was caught on video and has gone completely went viral, with the footage showing the biker behind two cars which seem to make no attempt whatsoever to stop and let the lady cross. What's the world coming to, eh?

In the clip, the old lady approaches the crossing and after the two cars fail to stop, the biker pulls to a halt, gets off his vehicle and offer the woman his arm to help her across the road.

Once she's safely on the other side of the street, the biker walks back, rejoins his gang of fellow motorcyclists and gets back in the saddle, before they all calmly resume their business ('business' meaning 'driving around and looking badass', presumably).

This heartwarming event was filmed by Angela Mcadam Blakely, from North Ayrshire, who then posted it on Facebook. She included the comment: "I recently witnessed an act of kindness outside my window. They say bikers are rough and ready but they stopped to help an older lady across the road."

When she posted the video, Angela added the comment: "Three times this has happened," implying the biker has stopped several times to perform the lovely act.

The video received various comments about the biker's goodwill, with one person writing: "Lovely to see good manners still exist."

Another person said: "What a lovely guy for helping the lady across the road."

For many, motorcycle gangs may conjure up mental images of Hell's Angels and scenes from Mad Max movies, but this act of chivalry might just provide a lesson in not judging a book by its cover.

For further proof, check out the US-based biker gang that protects and looks after children who had suffered abuse and still feel they need safety.

The Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA) were founded by a former social worker in 1990 and each member must undergo a two-year process that includes an FBI background check and a meeting with licensed mental health professionals to learn tactics for interacting with and supporting abused children.

Old ladies being helped across the road by bikers with hearts of gold, other bikers with a sense of social responsibility... what a world we live in.
