We've all had our moments, on holiday, where we'd rather the photos didn't make it social media - well two British tourists have took drunk antics to a new level in Rome.

The moment the two Brits strip naked outside a Roman monument, as their friends watched on, was caught on film.

The exploits took place at the iconic Altare della Patria (Altar of the Fatherland) national monument in the Italian capital.

The video footage shows two men - who are reported to be British by local media - are seen posing for photos, wearing only their underwear.

Police, in Italy, are still currently searching for the men after a tour guide filmed their frolics and posted it online where nearly 40,000 saw the YouTube video in the first 24 hours.

The video also shows several friends of the Brits' all positioned by the wall of the fountain, simply dipping their feet into the water and taking photos of their stripped-off pals.

Things get a bit more controversial, on the video, when at one point one of the men pulls his briefs down and puts his genitals between hislegs to pose for fully naked for photos.

Dozens of tourists and visitors to the monument, which was built to honour Italy's unification, walk past the misbehaving Brits as they pose and enjoy their exploits.

Themonimentis positioned between the Piazza Venezia and Capitoline Hill andholds the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier which includes the eternal flame - this was built in memory of the fallen soldiers of World War I.

Any behaviour that damages or disrespects famous landmarks, is prohibited by the local authorities and police are trying to track down the misbehaving tourists.

This isn't the only time British tourists have seen the other side of the law, in Italy, for more liberal behaviour.

Back in 2015 six Brits were arrested in Rome for cavorting naked in a fountain in the capitol.

These tourists had picked on of Rome's busiest tourist spots, the 19th century fountain of the Naiads - which features four naked nymphs - which is located in Piazza della Repubblica.

It was reported that four men and two women, aged from 25 to 49, stripped naked and leaped into the fountain - this led to the drunk Brits being charged with indecent exposure.
