A father who lost his wife and twin babies in a Syrian chemical attack has spoken out in support of Donald Trump's missile strike.

Abdul Hamid al-Youssef's wife and children were caught up in the recent chemical attack that killed more than 80 Syrians.

A heart-breaking photo of the 28-year-old dad clutching his dead toddlers went viral earlier this week. He said he wanted to share the image to 'shake the world' into action after the sarin gas attack in Khan Sheikhoun, which is situated in the rebel-held central province of Idlib.

Youssef claimed to have lost more than 20 family members in the attack.

President Tump ordered US airstrikes on Syria's Shayrat air base, where it's believed the planes responsible for the attack took off from.

Speaking in the Mail, Youssef said: "The American attack against the [Assad military base] airport is a good step, but not enough, because the regime has many airports which help it to continue killing its people and destroying liberated cities.

"The American attack against the [Assad military base] airport is a good step, but not enough, because the regime has many airports which help it to continue killing its people and destroying liberated cities.

"These operations have lifted our spirits and stopping them is frankly shocking. The suffering in Syria needs to stop as soon as possible."

The governor of the Homs province, where Shayrat is based, has said that five people died in the strike.

Grieving Youssef is hoping that the world will step in to help end the violence, which, so far, has resulted in the over 320,000 Syrians deaths and five million to flee the country.

Speaking to the paper about how he enjoyed a peaceful life with his family until six years ago, Youssef said: "'After Khan Sheikhoun, I wish that the international community, the UN and all the countries in the world would put an end to the suffering that the Syrian people have endured on a daily basis - the bombings, the detention, violence, the destruction and the warplanes, as soon as possible. Enough with them."

Youssef was also injured in the attack, however, after medical treatment he was well enough to cross the border into Turkey on Friday - after burying his family on Thursday.

He went on: "Enough with the military groups that are helping Assad - this situation is coming from Russia, and the Iranian, Lebanese and Afghani militia helping Assad on our land.

"This regime is a criminal regime and also who support him like Russia and Iran and the Shi'ite militants. All of them are terrorists."

The Assad regime has denied the use of chemical weapons. President Bashar al-Assad spoke out to condemn the US saying that the airstrikes were 'unjust and arrogant aggression'.
