If you say you've not ever been in a lift and imagined yourself plummeting to your death, then you're lying. You're trapped, there's nothing you can do and apparently jumping just before you hit the bottom doesn't help.
So hearts out to eight people in China who have died after the lift they were in fell 18 storeys while working on apartments in a construction lift.
None of the people in the lift survived the fall on the building site in eastern China, Chinese authorities announced today.
The Longkou city government in Shandong province said that the elevator fell from the 18th storey of a building that was under construction.
All eight people who were in the elevator when it fell on Friday were taken to hospital but sadly none survived, the Metro reported.
Despite improvements in recent years, standard safety procedure is often ignored in China and cost-cutting by management regularly leads to accidents.
Condolences to all those killed and their families. RIP.
