First Lady Melania Is Pushing President Trump To Visit Australia This Year

Melania Trump is reportedly 'desperate' to come Down Under in time for the Presidents Cup golf tournament.

Donald Trump has been president of the United States for nearly three years and he still hasn't visited Australia.

Not that it's on every US president's itinerary to visit the Land Down Under, but you'd think there might be a visit to our beautiful country considering he nipped over to the UK for a quick trip.

Plus, Barack Obama and George W Bush visited during their eight-year terms. But Trump's visit could happen sooner than you think if the First Lady has anything to do with it.

Melania Trump is understood to be pushing Donald Trump to organise a trip to Melbourne at the end of the year for the Presidents Cup golf tournament.

'Senior Washington sources' have told The Age and the Sydney Morning Herald that the First Lady is dying to come down and has targeted the bi-annual golf competition, hosted in Victoria this year, as the perfect reason to go.

President Trump was asked in June whether he'd like to attend the event and it didn't seem to conflict with his busy schedule.

"I'll tell you what, I'd like to. It might not be easy, but I'd like to. That's a big deal. That's going to be great," he said.

While we'll have to wait and see whether he takes the bait, our Prime Minister and First Lady have been invited over to the White House for a state dinner in September.

While that might not sound amazing, it would make Scott Morrison the second world leader to be gifted that honour since Trump took office.

ScoMo has relayed his interest in repaying the favour for Mr Trump in December, as long as something better doesn't take up his schedule.

"He is obviously a passionate follower of the sport and the tournament is actually named after the President so I think it would be great for Melbourne and for the tournament," Mr Morrison said.

It'll be interesting to see whether he would come across the Pacific to visit Australians and what type of reception he'd receive.

When he landed in the UK, someone decided to decorate the grass next to Stansted Airport where Trump's plane landed.

The penis is accompanied by the message 'Oi Trump', while a polar bear has been cut into another field alongside the message 'Climate change is real'.

Born Eco said the field art was created under the Stansted Airport flightpath to 'welcome' the US President with a 'stiff' message.

Sharing the pictures on Twitter, the eco-friendly online marketplace said: "Guess who's been busy today mowing a stiff message for Trump under the Stansted flightpath... Please share and let's see how far we can spread the welcome!"
