Oh, Germaine. Germaine Germaine Germaine. She's off being all controversial again, this time by claiming that rape's actually not that big a deal. Okay then.
The controversial feminist appeared at Hay Festival and claimed that some rapes are just 'bad sex', reports the Mirror.
She also suggested that rapists shouldn't be jailed because some rapes are 'just lazy, careless and insensitive'.

Instead, she reckons rapists should be charged with 200 hours of community service and branded with a visible 'R' tattoo - somewhere like their face - to identify them for life. So litter picking and some new ink as punishment for forcing yourself on another person without consent.
79-year-old Greer went on to dismiss statistics that the majority of rape victims suffer from post-traumatic stress.
The Australian writer said: "Most rapes don't involve any injury whatsoever. We are told it's one of the most violent crimes in the world - bullshit."

She was herself a victim of rape when she was in her late teens, an attack which apparently saw her violently and repeatedly beaten.
Whatever her logic, she's been accused of being a rape apologist and a really terrible feminist after her latest rant.
Twitter has, obviously, had some words to say on the matter.
Germaine has said that sexual assault and the difficult issue of defining consent is overwhelming our legal system, turning victims into pieces of evidence.

She seems to be single-handedly trying to change the way we talk about assault, saying yesterday: "Instead of thinking of rape as a spectacularly violent crime, and some rapes are, think about it as non consensual ... that is bad sex.

Whatever she was hoping to get at, she's pissed off a lot of actual feminists. Maybe it's time you piped down, Germaine.
