Two young girls who were arrested on suspicion of a public order offence have been rushed to hospital after taking 'Snapchat pills', it has been confirmed.

West Yorkshire Police said that they stopped a group of teens in Castleford, West Yorkshire, shortly before 5pm on Tuesday.

According to the MailOnline, the two girls, aged 12 and 13, were arrested before being taken to hospital for treatment. A 13-year-old boy was also arrested on suspicion of drugs offences.

Officers are trying to determine the nature of the substance taken by the two youngsters but it's reported the girls took pills called 'Snapchat'.

West Yorkshire Police took to Twitter to warn people of the risks. They said: "We want to remind the public about the dangers of drugs. Drugs are often given catchy names to appeal to young people. We had an incident involving 2 females in hospital after taking 'Snapchat pills'."

They continued
: "At around 4:42pm yesterday afternoon (05/06) officers stopped a group of teenagers in the Smawthorne Lane area of Castleford.

"Two girls aged 12 and 13 were arrested for public order offences and transported to hospital after it was suspected that they had taken an illicit substance. They are both currently in a stable condition under observation.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the nature of the substance. A 13-year-old boy from the Castleford area was also later arrested in connection with drugs related offences."

We are seeing drug-related deaths cropping up involving young people more and more. Just last month 18-year-old Georgia Jones died at Mutiny Festival in Portsmouth after taking two pills.

The tablets she took were apparently super strength 'Green Heineken' Ecstasy tablets.

In an appeal to other young people to avoid taking drugs, her mum, Janine Milburn, said: "I can now say Georgia died yesterday due to complications after taking two pills at Mutiny.

"If nothing else, I hope what has happened to her will deter you from taking anything ever."

She added: "My little girl was 18 and full of life. I just hope this stops at least some of you from ending up the same."

Twenty-year-old Tommy Cowan who was attending the same festival also died after he fell ill within 20 minutes of Georgia.
