A 'final' picture of heroic police officer Keith Palmer, taken shortly before he was killed in the Westminster attack, has appeared online.

US tourist Staci Martin was visiting London when she posed for a picture with PC Palmer, just 45 minutes before he was stabbed by British-born Khalid Masood outside Parliament on Wednesday.

Forty-eight year old PC Palmer was one of four victims who died after the attack.

Aysha Frade, a teacher and mum in her 40s and US tourist Kurt Cochran, 54, were also killed on Wednesday after Masson ploughed a car into pedestrians on Westminster Bridge, before running into the grounds of Parliament, carrying a knife. He was shot dead by police.

Last night a 75-year-old man died after his life support machine was switched off.

Further details about Masson has emerged, following Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack. Masson, 52, was born Adrian Elms in Kent. He had a previous conviction for stabbing a man, the Mirror reports.

Prime Minister Theresa May confirmed that Masood had previously been investigated by M15. Speaking in Parliament, she said: "His identity is known to the police and MI5 and when operational considerations allow, he will be publicly identified.

"What I can confirm is that the man was British-born and that some years ago he was once investigated by MI5 in relation to concerns about violent extremism.

"He was a peripheral figure. The case is historic. He was not part of the current intelligence picture.

"There was no prior intelligence of his intent or of the plot."

Thousands gathered in London's Traflag Square to take part in a candle-lit vigil to honour the victims, last night.

Acting Metropolitan Police commissioner Craig Mackey said: "Terrorists in London have never succeeded and never will."

Tributes were paid to brave PC Palmer, with Home Secretary Amber Rudd paying respects to the 'courageous' cop.
