Drug kingpin John Anslow has reportedly beaten down the killers of soldier Lee Rigby in a prison scrap.

According to his dad, John Senior, Anslow - who is serving a 22-year sentence for his crimes as a Black Country drug lord - grew sick and tired of his Belmarsh neighbours Michael Adebolajo and Michael Adebowale talking long into the night.

He claims the criminal lived in a cell nearby to the terrorists and an exchange of bad words led to a brawl.

John Senior told The Birmingham Mail: "All night and all day they were shouting. One each side of him. One tried to put it on him and came off worst.

"John got him on the floor and was throwing punches before the screws pulled him off. He gave it to him. He stood his ground and had a go back."

He also commented on the killers themselves, adding: "They [Adebolajo and Adebowale] are the worst of the worst. I'd like to do to them what they did to Lee Rigby."

Despite this rather emotive account of what happened, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Justice told the newspaper that since there's no date for the incident, a probe into the allegation would be near impossible.

So it looks like it's John Senior's word against no one's. Either way, the dad questioned why they'd put his 38-year-old son in such close proximity with the extremists.

Since then, Anslow has been moved to Frankland Prison, County Durham, and is currently serving time at HM Prison, Wakefield.

It might be the largest high-security prison in the UK, but both Anslow and his father are relieved he's out of Belmarsh.

"It was a joke. There was no sympathy [towards visitors]," said John Senior. "He is OK and half way through [his sentence]. He can get out more and mix with the general prison population."

The emergence of this story arrives just over six years since the murder of British Army soldier Rigby by the imprisoned pair Adebolajo and Adebowale, who mowed down the 25-year-old before attacking him with knives and a cleaver on the streets of Woolwich.

They were convicted at the Old Bailey of the murder in 2013, having killed him on 22 May that year.

Adebolajo is currently serving a whole-life prison sentence while Adebowale must serve at least 45 years behind bars.
