It's no use crying over spilled milk, and the same goes for beer.

Instead of crying when a lorry carrying dozens of crates of beer dropped its cargo onto the road, a group of locals over in Manila, the Philippines, banded together to help clean up the mess.

A clip filmed in the Santa Cruz area of the capital city on Wednesday (3 July) shows residents gathering around the green boxes and smashed glass in a bid to save as many bottles as possible and in turn help out the clumsy lorry driver.

Apparently the accident occurred when the vehicle's back door flung open as it sped through a narrow road with sharp bends, causing destruction as cases of beer smashed to the floor.

Hundreds of bottles made the casualty list, with shards of glass spread out across the road. But it didn't all go to waste, as dozens of cold ones were salvaged by the good Samaritans who rushed to help.

Although it's not entirely clear whether those in the video were trying to nab some free beer or helping the driver, many say it's the latter answer - everyone was just trying to clean up the mess and ensure the dude didn't get fired.

Plus, you can see from the video that the locals are carefully maneuvering around the broken shards as they work to repack the boxes. One snippet shows a shirtless guy next to another who's re-stacking boxes to help load them back onto the lorry.

According to witnesses, the lorry door opened when a lock snapped. Onlooker Mingo Lee said: "The beer was worth a lot of money. Hundreds were smashed. I feel sorry for the driver. He was upset and worried about getting in trouble with his boss."

You can only imagine how the guy responsible for the accident must've felt when he heard that crash. We've all had moments where we go to grab our glass of drink, only for it to fall to the floor and smash, feeling like the whole scene plays out in slo-mo.

This must've felt the same, only a hundred times worse.

Thankfully the admirable community in this video, Mingo included, were on hand to help a brother out. Here's hoping the dude didn't get fired - and here's hoping he handed a few free cold ones to the guys and gals who helped out.
