A man has been arrested after being filmed openly masturbating on a bus in the city of Kolkata, India last weekend.
Asit Roy, a street hawker in his 50s, began performing the solo sex act in full view of two women on the bus in the West Bengal capital, who were both understandably offended - so much so, they took videos of him and sent the clips to the local police and posted them on Facebook.

Soon enough, over two million people subsequently viewed the footage on Facebook and forced the police to act, with Roy now in police custody. It is alleged that he has previous form and had actually been spotted doing something similar several weeks before.
The women involved claim that he exposed himself to them in the same district of Kolkata, pulling down his pants and exposing his genitals.
"When we protested and asked the bus conductor to take action, he ignored our pleas," wrote one of the victims in a Facebook post about the incident.

"Fifteen days back when the person had made vulgar gestures we could not do anything as we did not have any proof. Today we have these two videos as proof and we want justice."
According to the police in Kolkata, the videos posted on their Facebook page were 'enough for us'.
"We have already lodged a case. We are trying to track down the culprit," police added.

"He has been caught. The investigation begins with the highest priority. He will be punished. You can trust us."
This isn't the first incident of masturbation on public transport to have cropped up recently, either. Recently, 22-year old Karlah Louise Daly was on a bus in Leeds when a man moved closer to her and started performing a solo sex act.
Karlah says she went downstairs and reported the incident to the bus driver, who simply told her to switch seats. She explained that the man was allowed to remain on the bus and was still onboard after she departed.
"I do feel the driver could have perhaps handled it better because when I was getting off the guy was still upstairs," she said.

First, the company which operates the bus service where the incident took place, promised: "We will conduct a full internal investigation into the matter, report our findings to the police if applicable and then aid with any subsequent police enquiries into the incident."
West Yorkshire Police will be investigating the matter.
